T-Mobile Offering Small Business-Specific Plans

Millions of small businesses across the country rely on mobile technology of all types every day, but often have expensive cellphone and data plans that can add up quickly if they have a lot of employees using them. However, one of the nation’s leading wireless service providers is looking for new ways to bridge gaps between what businesses of that size need and what’s actually available to them.

T-Mobile recently announced that it would soon launch new cellphone plans for small businesses specifically, which are designed to meet companies’ needs more closely than they have in the past, according to a report from the Associated Press. In particular, businesses will pay a flat rate of $16 each for up to 19 cellular lines, as long as they’re buying at least 10 lines overall. When they get to anywhere between 20 and 1,000, that per-line price drops to $15.

Once those lines are set up, each one will receive unlimited voice and text, plus 1 gigabyte of data per phone, the report said. Companies will then have the option to bump up that data plan if needed, and even make it so that the entire group pools data together (i.e. firms with 15 lines would be able to decide if they want each line to have, say, 2 gigabytes of data, or for the overall company to split 30 gigabytes) every month. Moreover, companies will also only be charged for data they use.

And when companies do choose to buy data plans above and beyond the standard T-Mobile offers, they will receive more benefits, the report said. For one thing, they’ll get a free domain name and website from the well-known online services industry firm GoDaddy, as well as emails and a number of other efficiency tools through Microsoft Office 365 Business Essentials.

T-Mobile will also continue its practice of paying early termination fees charged by other service providers, but will expand that to also cover back payments on accounts with outstanding balances, the report said. In fact, it will cover up to $650 in unpaid bills with competitors.

Companies that want to make sure they can afford to make such a switch may want to consider the benefits of finding more affordable small business insurance. Cutting costs for liability insurance, for instance, could help free up thousands of dollars annually.
